Punta Cana sits on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean — one of the most productive sport fishing waters in the entire Caribbean. Blue marlin, white marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo, sailfish, barracuda. These are the waters where fishing stories get written.
The Deep Sea Fishing Shared Charter puts you out on the open ocean on a professional 36 to 42-foot sport fishing yacht with an experienced captain, a first mate, top-of-the-line Shimano and Penn rods and reels, and a small group of fellow fishing enthusiasts. No experience required. Whether this is your first time holding a rod or you’ve been chasing marlin for years, the crew knows exactly what to do.

What Happens on the Charter
After hotel pickup from Punta Cana or Bavaro, you’re taken to the marina where your sport fishing boat is ready and waiting. Your captain and first mate welcome you on board, get you set up with the fishing gear and give you a quick rundown of what to expect on the water.
Then you head out. The captain knows these waters — he knows the currents, the seasonal patterns, where the big fish run and how to put you in the best possible position for a catch. The method is trolling — the rods are placed in holders and lines are set as the boat moves through the water. When something hits, you take the rod and fight it in.
The Caribbean Atlantic is home to some of the fastest and strongest game fish in the world. Mahi-mahi are acrobatic and spectacular fighters. Wahoo are among the fastest fish in the ocean. Blue marlin are the ultimate trophy fish — explosive, powerful and absolutely unforgettable if you hook one.
While fishing is never guaranteed — that’s the nature of the sport — the waters off Punta Cana are consistently productive and the crew’s local knowledge gives you the best possible chance. Refreshments including water, soft drinks and beer are served throughout the trip.
Observer spots are also available for anyone in your group who wants to experience the adventure on the water without fishing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What fish can I catch in Punta Cana?
The waters off Punta Cana are home to blue marlin, white marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi (dorado), wahoo, sailfish, barracuda and king mackerel. What’s running depends on the time of year — your captain will target the species most active during your visit.
What is the difference between a Fisherman spot and an Observer spot?
A Fisherman spot means you actively participate in the fishing — you hold the rod, fight the fish and reel it in. An Observer spot is for guests who want to be on the boat and enjoy the experience without fishing. Both spots include the full charter experience, refreshments and the excitement of being out on the open ocean.
Is this tour good for beginners?
Absolutely. The captain and first mate handle all the setup, tackle and bait. When a fish bites, they’ll guide you through exactly what to do. Many first-timers end up catching their biggest fish ever on this trip. No experience needed at all.
Is the catch guaranteed?
No — and any charter that guarantees a catch is not being honest with you. The ocean is unpredictable. The captain uses his local knowledge and years of experience to put you in the best possible position, but fishing is fishing. The adventure and the experience are guaranteed regardless of what bites.
What is trolling fishing?
Trolling is the method used on this charter. The rods are placed in holders at the back of the boat and lines with lures or bait are dragged through the water as the boat moves. When a fish strikes and takes the line, you pick up the rod and fight it in. It’s the most effective method for targeting large game fish like marlin, tuna and wahoo in the open ocean.
Should I worry about sea sickness?
The Atlantic waters off Punta Cana can be choppy, especially in winter months. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take a remedy the night before or morning of the trip — Dramamine, ginger tablets or a scopolamine patch all work well. Let the crew know if you start feeling unwell and they’ll take care of you.
