A 52-Meter Waterfall and the Caribbean's Most Photogenic Island — One Day Trip from Punta Cana
Two Extraordinary Places in One Day
El Limón and Cayo Levantado are two of the most spectacular natural destinations in the entire Dominican Republic — and this tour combines them into a single, expertly guided day trip from Punta Cana. A 52-meter waterfall deep in the Samaná rainforest, reached through tropical wilderness. Then a picture-perfect island in the Bay of Samaná with white sand, turquoise water, and coconut palms leaning into the Caribbean breeze. Two completely different experiences, both unforgettable.
El Limón — The Waterfall in the Forest
The trail to El Limón Waterfall winds through genuine tropical rainforest for approximately 45 minutes each way — a beautiful, immersive walk that is itself part of the experience. Horse transport is available for those who prefer to ride rather than walk. The arrival at the 52-meter cascade, crashing into the pool below surrounded by dense green rainforest, is one of the most dramatic natural moments available anywhere in the country.
Cayo Levantado — Bacardi Island
After the waterfall, the tour heads to the Bay of Samaná for the boat crossing to Cayo Levantado — the small, perfect cay in the middle of the bay that became internationally famous as the location for a classic Bacardi rum campaign. White sand, clear turquoise water, coconut palms, and the bay stretching all around you. Lunch is served on the island. Afternoon is yours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I ride a horse to the waterfall instead of hiking?
A: Yes — horse transport is available for the El Limón trail for guests who prefer not to hike or have mobility limitations. The horse ride takes a similar route through the forest and is a lovely experience in its own right. Let us know your preference when booking.
Q: Is swimming possible at El Limón Waterfall?
A: Yes — the pool at the base of El Limón is perfect for swimming. The water is cool, refreshing, and clear. It’s one of the great natural swimming spots in the Dominican Republic. Bring your swimsuit.
Q: How long do we spend at Cayo Levantado?
A: Typically 2-3 hours at the island — enough time for a swim, a walk along the beach, lunch, and time to simply absorb the extraordinary beauty of the location. The boat returns in the mid-afternoon to allow for the drive back to Punta Cana before dark.
Q: Is this tour different from the Full Day Samaná Serenity tour?
A: The two tours cover overlapping territory but have different focuses. This tour concentrates specifically on El Limón Waterfall and Cayo Levantado as its two main highlights. The Samaná Serenity tour is a broader exploration of the peninsula including whale watching (seasonal) and a different Samaná experience. If whale watching is your priority, book the Serenity tour.
