This is the most immersive dolphin experience available in Punta Cana — 60 minutes in the water with two dolphins, a maximum of 10 participants, and access to experiences that are normally reserved exclusively for professional trainers. What to Bring
Swimsuit, towel, biodegradable sunscreen and a change of dry clothes. Leave regular sunscreen at the hotel. The dorsal fin ride and belly ride are two of the most photographed moments in any dolphin program — cash for professional photos is well worth it here.
What Happens in the Program
After hotel pickup from Punta Cana or Bavaro, you’re taken to the Dolphin Explorer facility where your trainer gives you a full briefing on the Supremacy program. The group is deliberately kept to a maximum of 10 people to ensure every participant gets genuine, extended time with the dolphins throughout the 60-minute session.
The program begins with a personalized introduction to your two dolphins. Unlike the Funtastic and Explorer programs which work with one dolphin per group, Supremacy gives you two. Your trainer explains how the dolphins communicate, how they’re cared for and how the session will work before you enter the water.
From there the activities build progressively. You’ll swim alongside the dolphins, learning to give cues and watching them respond. Then come the signature moments that make Supremacy what it is.
The foot push — you float face-up in the water and the dolphin launches you forward from the soles of your feet at full speed across the surface. The dorsal fin ride — you hold onto the dorsal fin and the dolphin pulls you through the water. The belly ride — you place your hands on the dolphin’s belly as it swims beneath you and feel the full power of its movement directly.
Each of these experiences lasts only seconds but leaves an impression that doesn’t fade. The session closes with the sea lion show and bird show, rounding out a genuinely exceptional half-day.

What makes Supremacy different from the Explorer program?
Explorer is a 50-minute swim with one dolphin in groups of up to 12 people, featuring the foot push. Supremacy is a 60-minute program with two dolphins in groups of maximum 10 people, and adds the dorsal fin ride and belly ride on top of the foot push. It’s a longer, more intimate and more physically immersive experience across the board.
What is the dorsal fin ride?
You hold onto the dolphin’s dorsal fin and it pulls you through the water. It’s one of the experiences that trainers at professional dolphin facilities train for months to achieve. In the Supremacy program, your trainer prepares you and guides you through it safely.
What is the belly ride?
You place your hands on the dolphin’s belly as it swims beneath you and feel the full power and movement of the animal directly. It’s an extraordinarily intimate experience that gives you a real sense of just how powerful and graceful these animals are.
Do I need to be an experienced swimmer?
You need to be a confident swimmer. The Supremacy program takes place entirely in deep water and involves extended active swimming alongside two dolphins. It is not suitable for beginners or non-swimmers. If you’re not a confident swimmer, the Funtastic program — which uses a shallow platform — is the right choice.
Is this suitable for children?
Children aged 6 and above can participate. Children between 6 and 12 pay US$ 124 and children under 5 participate free. Since the program requires confident swimming ability and takes place in deep water, it’s best suited for strong young swimmers. Children under 5 who are free to attend cannot enter the water for safety reasons.
Why two dolphins in Supremacy and not one?
Having two dolphins allows for a richer and more varied experience — both dolphins can perform different activities simultaneously and the interaction feels more natural and dynamic. It’s also what allows the belly ride experience, which requires specific positioning that’s only possible with two dolphins working together.
